Hey Autumn, what's new? New band project, New open mic venue, New bluegrass festival

So excited about my new band project - The Trailers.  The Trailers are comprised of Frank Consiglio on guitar, mandolin & vocals, myself on guitar, uke & vocals, and Bill Kwaak on drums & vocals.  As a trio we play an eclectic mix of original tunes and covers done our own way.

I am still hosting two regular open mics:

Singer Songwriter/Open mic at O'Shea's Olde Inne in West Dennis on Monday, September 22, Monday October 13, and Monday, November 3.  This will kick off with the "originals-encouraged-acoustic-unplugged-around-the-trunk-singer-songwriter-circle" from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., then we'll amplify from 8:30 - 11:30 p.m.  The food is great, the pints flowing, and the atmosphere is that of an authentic pub in Ireland.

Wednesdays find me hosting open mic at Harvest Gallery Wine Bar in Dennis.  Be sure to get there early - the list goes out at 7:00 p.m. and is often full by 7:10.  Depending on how many musicians sign up, 2 or 3 song sets run from 7:30 - 10:30.  PA, cords, mics & stands provided.

I am also thrilled to announce my new venture in cooperation with The Harwich Junior Theatre. I will be hosting an Open Mic Coffee House on the first Friday of each month.   This event was the brainchild of Nadia Schuessler, and I am taking over for her because she has returned to school to pursue her Masters Degree.  Admission is $5 and proceeds benefit the HJT scholarship fund.  New this year, we will be featuring a Cape-based professional artist each month.  The featured artist will appear from 8:30 - 9:00 and will perform for the audience as well as answer questions about their process and career in an effort to inspire the youth in the audience to recognize that the arts can be a viable profession.  The event is open to the public, but we are hoping to attract junior high and high school students from all across the Cape.  We are hoping to attract more than just musicians as well.  For instance, students could present a short play, spoken word, rap, dance, music, or other talent.  Performers will be given a 5 - 10 minute slot, based on how many people show up to sign up for the open mic slots.  Musician David Roth will be our feature for October.

And don't forget about The Vinegrass Music Festival!  Vinegrass Organization will be holding the inaugural festival from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Truro Vineyards.  There is a fantastic line-up this year - get your tickets now!  This is near and dear to my heart because I sit on the board of this organization.  The Vinegrass Music Festival is the main fundraiser for the Vinegrass Organization, a non-profit music company, that produces concerts, camps, and workshops, in order to raise money for our charitable mission. The mission is to provide scholarships to students pursuing Roots & Rhythm instruments in an accredited 4year music program. In addition to the scholarships, we will subsidize camps and in...struments to younger students in need, and give an annual grant to an artist or band in the Rhythm & Roots genre.
